Remember when you were in college or high school and the summers were for laying around? Well, this summer is not going to be like that for me. Does anyone have ideas on how to keep the summer fun going? Do you make time for the pool or the beach? Do you listen to a summer playlist on your commute to work?
Something that helps me is having outfits that I can wear to work, maybe add a heel and then wear after office hours, maybe minus the heels. This is one of my favorite tops. I went to a conference this week for Mental Health Psychology, and let me tell you, it was so great to grab dinner with a friend right after. Sometimes days just feel too long and you need to have some fun in the middle of a busy work week, especially when it gets nice outside. If this is the case put on a pair of slacks, a loose fitting blouse, the heels, slip some flats in your bag, and then shoulder a light duster for a night on the town.
I have been thinking about this work/play ratio in my life recently and I don’t know if anyone truly knows how much another person may do in a day. My mom recently went back to school and I have no idea what her work week looks like. I have friends who are staying home with kids and that is another definition of a busy work week. I want to find something that I enjoy doing, that is not an escape, but is truly fun.
Going back to what my mom does for fun. I remember always finding her relaxing on the back patio. She did this, not to get out of the house, or to get some quiet. No, she loves the sunshine. Something about their generation, us Millenials are afraid of skin cancer, sun particles and wrinkles. Not my mom and her sisters. Sun day fun day. What is it that you like to do every summer? I need to find mine? I really like the water. I could sit out on a floaty donut in Lake Michigan all day. Ah now that’s the life!
My outfit is from Nordstrom, Topshop and Zara, boo. Let the summer work for you. Work the summer. See outfit idea details below. : )
