A family friend of mine loves hunting for vintage clothes, the best places to go are Goodwill and thrift stores. He used to be a professional shopper for a men’s clothing store in Chicago. A few days ago I was able to go with him and put my own thrift store hunting skills to the test. I found a few fun pieces that go great my existing wardrobe. What was the best part of that day? The bright orange, silk kimono. I am pretty sure he saw the kimono first. The vibrant orange color caught my eye second. And the third step was purchasing it. We knew it was quality by the feel of the silk and the original designer tag. My friend commented on how it reminded him of something Audrey Hepburn would wear. Audrey is one of my fashion inspirations and I could not agree more. There is something about a long kimono that takes you back in time to vintage clothes and satin slippers. When you are attempting to style a kimono, imagine what you would wear with a duster. Replace the duster with the kimono and you have an outfit perfect for breakfast at Tiffany’s!
Below are a few non-thrifted options for you incase you are inspired to buy a kimono. If you are in the mood to thrift check out this option from Poshmark: Sheer Black Kimono
