Guys, I am going to be honest here. I am messy. Like really messy. When I think about like I think chaos, fast, excitement, fun, loud and bright colors. This translates into how I keep my room, purse and car. I really need to clean out my car! This is how I have always functioned. I can be organized it just takes a ton of effort, focus and brain power for me. I like coming up with crazy ideas and executing those plans in the same day. It is great for executing a last minute plan, or working in a high-pressure job or being on a live radio show, but not so great when working with people in everyday life. I think this is why I have been working on it when organization is necessary. Are you like me? Do you get frustrated with yourself sometimes? If you are a hot mess like me it is important to keep these three things in mind.
- Remember you have beautiful, amazing strengths. You are probably extremely spontaneous, fun to be around, creative and adventurous. There’s nothing wrong with you.
- Don’t beat yourself up when others might. Creative types sometimes have a hard time working together with others. This is because if a pace is going to be spontaneous there needs to be extra communication. But of course, communication is hard and usually gets neglected. This may lead to frustration. Calmly explaining what you were thinking and what the other person working with you were thinking will lead to clarity. Don’t let anyone make you think you are spacey, not professional or immature just because you function a little differently.
- Keep in mind that you are always learning. Be open to bringing a little organization in your life. Don’t be afraid to let someone who thinks and functions differently than you do to help you bring a bit of order to your chaos. However, make sure that person understands that you are first and foremost a creative who may always have a bit of a free spirit when it comes to cleaning.
Being honest with others in your life and yourself about your strengths and weaknesses just molds you into a more well-rounded human.
