Which Design Was Your Favorite?

Chicago is full of two things: ways to celebrate… From food, music to dancing… and cultures…  When you put those two together: celebrating culture… Watch out! It’s always a good time.

I was invited to go to Chicago’s very own, fourth annual, African Fashion Week. Here is a little sneak peek and a taste of what you can be apart of next year.

Just back from West Africa! Shopping for fashion is a very different experience. It’s much more personal, as you choose your fabric and bring to a tailor to make it for you. Measurements are taken and then you choose your style from bold paper posters, Wait a few days, and voila! You have your own custom attire! Africans have very perceptions of body image (in my mind, that’s a good thing), so you may have to hunt a bit for something your American mind deems flattering…or you can just go with it! Be thankful for the body God gave you and experiment with something you love. Regardless, you’ll have a personalized fashion souvenir of your experience and be supporting the local economy!

Jennifer, that’s such a cool experience! Shopping in Africa sounds very different from shopping in the States! Thanks for sharing!
