I hate to weed. I just hate it. Its painful. You have to bend down and reach for something with thistles in it and you have to work to pull a plant out of the ground. I took this photo shoot with my brother and my dad. They are so sweet. As my brother was taking the photos my dad was pulling weeds and making his little side garden look perfect. Self care is a process. If you have ever been through a hard time in your life… anything from a death of someone close to you or post college depression… you know how it feels to struggle to get up in the morning and get dressed. On those days I feel like a garden of thistles and weeds instead of a bed of flowers.

My dad is an amazing landscape designer. I think I get my love for design from him. I also believe my brother’s eye for photography comes from my dad’s detailed perspective. My dad is always saying you should spend time every day weeding and I used to as one of my chores. I am not saying you need to go shopping everyday, but everyday take care of yourself. Fashion is one of those tools. It is a way to care for yourself, boost your confidence in yourself and help you accomplish the tasks you need to achieve. Take time everyday, put in the work and get dressed in something you love.

My two words are Shabby Chic — my dad came up with this one!
