There is nothing more feminine in life than a summer sun dress. As I am writing this I can feel the summer breeze brushing through my hair and some soft jazz playing in the background. Like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I had no place to go. I was wondering around the Gold Coast of Chicago, stopping traffic and stealing a child’s toy out of a store…. No, only Audrey Hepburn could get away with that.
Actually the day of this shoot was more like the intro to Sex in the City. The part where she breaks her shoe and a bus splashes a puddle of water at her. I walked all over the city with my photographer and by the end of the day my feet were bleeding and we had barely enough time to take photos. How does Audrey make being a hot mess look so effortless? Muh. Sometimes life just isn’t as smooth as jazz.
My dress that got me feeling like a lady and so comfortable in my own skin, is a gift from Mata Traders. You know I am a fan of ethical fashion. Well, I am also a huge fan of Mata Traders. They kill it everytime! Their clothing and accessories are made by women in Nepal. These artisans come from all walks of life, and desire to help provide for their families.
“The Mata Traders mission is to ‘fashion a better world’ by creating designs that
celebrate a woman’s originality and empower her to use her dollar for change. We
merge uncommonly vibrant style with fair trade practices to make an impact on
global poverty – bringing fair wages to artisans in India and Nepal.”
