This past week I was asking my friends if they ask their dads about dating and boys. We were going to have a dating segment on the radio station I worked for. The conversations were interesting because I realized coming up with the questions was more difficult than I expected. I knew I had questions, but didn’t know how to ask the questions. Titles of magazines, countless dating tips and relationship articles were streaming through my mind. All of the articles from complete strangers who tried to answer the questions floating around in my head. Why do we search for answers but do not ask the questions?
I went to Urban Outfitters and bought this top. It is so comfortable! I was with a friend and we were detoxing from life by shopping. I tried on this shirt but could not imagine what I would put it with. I was imaging countless magazine covers and online store photos, but could not picture the outfit. I was about to resort to looking up photos on Pinterest to get an idea when my friend told me exactly the answer I was looking for. This is a funny way to have an “ah ha!” moment, but I did. I have been searching for answers, but not asking questions from the people right in front of me.
Can you believe that when I was in high school people could not get internet on their phones? There was no such thing as an app. I think the amount of information at our fingertips is remarkable and one of the reasons I want to be a blogger. However, fashion advice from a close friend and dating tips from dad can be treasured moments that cannot be written down in a blog post. I need to do less searching for answers from strangers and more asking questions from the people around me.
